Under "Rules", the "New Team Set Up" tab has 35 roster slots for major league teams, including 6 starting pitching slots. Yet under "MLB Roster" it says a 30 man roster, and only has 5 starting pitching slots. Which one are we working off of, because I've really been paring my roster down via trades and roster cuts, and it'd be nice to be able to add back a few guys that I had to cut to get to 30 or under. (Like Josh Collmenter and Jeff Keppinger)
Additionally, but less pressing, if we are working off of 2012 salaries, that theoretically gives every team control over 2013's free agents, so how will we deal with that?

We will be posting before the week is over answering these questions and a few more. We will post a detail description on FA and how it will be handled.

Thank you for this thread.
Do we lose players when their current MLB contract is up? Or do owners have the right to match real life salary? For example, next season when Chase Headley signs a new deal, does he become a FA in our league or does current owner have first right to match?

Free agency will start February the 4th. We will be posting a list of FA's this week so you will know who will be available to bid on. We need every ones MLB roster to be set and finalized by January 31st. And once your roster is set then we need you to post a list of all the MLB players you are choosing not to keep under your team page as a new thread titled Non Rostered Players. These players then will be added to the Free Agent List to be bid on. The way we will be doing Free Agency is by blind biding. Each day starting on the 4th we will release 4 or 5 players to be bid on. Once they are released you have 24hrs to place a bid on that player. To place a bid you send an email to highntightdynasty@gmail.com with your team name in the subject title and the player you are bidding on. For example If i was bidding on Mike Napoli.... Subject: Braves/Royals- Mike Napoli. Then below you would post the actual bid for the player. So I would say Mike Napoli 35M. Then you would send in your email and when the 24 hrs is up the team with the highest bid when the player. We will be having a third party who is not in the league and that we trust very much handle the email account and informing us of the winning bid so that there will be no temptation for any of us to check the bids and out bid them. After a player is one then his salary for this year will be whatever it is you bid. So if i won MiKe Napoli at 35M then for this year he would be 35M. Then after that his salary will go by whatever his actual contract is. I hope this explains the free agency side of the league. I will be posting more information as the day goes to answer other questions that have been asked.

To answer the question about roster sizes... there was some confusion about if rosters were 30 or 35 based on the way the rules were posted. The rules have been change and should be more clear now. The teams are 35 man roster with 12 bench spots. You can go to new team set up or MLB Roster to see what your roster should look like. I also want to answer the question about whether or not we will control 2013 players because we are working off 2012 salaries. The reason we are using 2012 salaries is so that we can have an accurate total of what your teams salary is without waiting on Arbitration numbers. But if you have a player who's contract runs out at the end of the year and is not signed before the last game of the World Series then that player will automatically become a FA the next year. For example if Robinson Cano does not sign before the last game of the 2013 World Series then for 2014 he will be a FA no matter if he signs with the Yankees after that point or not. Another question i have received was if a player like Cano is traded in our league and signs with the Yankees in real Life but is no longer on the Yankees in our league, is he owned by the team that traded for him or does he become a FA. The answer to that question is as long as he has a contract with a MLB Team in real life before the last game of the World Series then who ever owns him in this league gets to keep him. I hope this answers most of your questions. If you have any more please feel free to PM me or post on this thread.

1) Do we have to have an open slot on the roster to bid?
2) Can we win a bid, then cut a player after?
3) If we trim players from the roster, but don't win any F/A, you are in a tough spot, don't you think?
How about we win then can cut someone to add them to the pool?
4) If you bid $35M for Napoli and I bid $50, do I get him for $50 or 1 mil more than what you bid?

You will have 24 hrs to make room for a player that you win. Once Free Agency is over you will no longer be able to cut a player with our being penalized half of the players salary. The answer to your second question is if you bid 50M and the second highest bid was 36M then you win the bid for 50M and that will be Napolis salary for the year. Make sure Whatever you bid you are willing to pay that amount for the year.

OK, thanks! Is the pnealty of half the salary apply to all players, or just free agents that were won?

1) What is the process for dropping players once the season ends? For example, if the player who has Cano holds his rights after the season (say he signs with Yankees before September ) - will that owner be able to drop Cano to the FA pool by some certain date during the offseason without incurring the 50% penalty?
2) i initially added this one to Rules board, but will combine it all here. Point of clarification. I doubt the intention is to let a player remain on your MiLB roster forever. If you never promote/demote- for example, the rules seem vague here.
Perhaps setting an Innings or AtBats maximum such that the season after a player reaches 50IP or 150AB, they have to be on the major league roster to start following season?
Or is there something here I am not understanding
3) It looks like there is a lot of inconsistency with how we are reporting salaries. Sometimes the young guys are listed as $.48M. Other times as $0.5M And how many decimal place should we track? (yes, I am that guy)

The answer to yankees question is the penalty is for all players you drop after free agency is over.

The answer to tampa's questions 1) After this years free agency any time you drop a player you will have to pay %50 of there salary. 2) The thought was to have a limit sorry that was not clear in the rules. Yes a 50 IP or 150 AB is a good standard. 3) Well if cots says $.48 then its $.48,,,, whatever it says is what we should use. If it does not say then it is $.48. And only track 2 decimal points.
Hope this answers all your questions.
